As spotted on PocketGear is Hitori Rules, a shiny new version of the Japanese number game. “This time all the numbers are there right from the start - you just have to paint out the right ones so that no number appears more than once in any column or row. Many thanks to Torgamm of PocketPCFreeware for letting me know about Hitofri (a play of words on free Hitori), a “Japanese puzzle game (literally ‘let me alone’), published by Nikoli. It is played on a grid of squares. At the beginning, each cell contains a symbol (number or something else, you can choose). The goal is to paint out some cells so that there are no duplicate in any row or column. The black squares cannot be adjacent to one another and all non-painted squares must form a single continuous area.”…

As spotted on PocketGear is Nu pogodi, a true to the original port of a classic Russian handheld game, which is originally based on a series of cartoons. “Move the wolf to catch the eggs and play the highest score. Easy playable with fingers. Choose from two difficulty levels with further progression. The rabbit in the upper left corner of the display signalizes the change to upper difficulty level.”…

PocketGaming.de has the scoop on Death Drive, a completely free Carmageddon style game “pretty much like Handy Entertainment’s Dreamway and Garga Games’ Ganxta Race on the Pocket PC - but all in 3D, unlike these 2D games. The game uses the same Voxel technology used in, for example, the Comanche series, which, at its time (in 1992), was a real breakthrough on PC gaming with its (compared to alternative technologies) excellent speed and visuals. The speed advantage is present on the Pocket PC too - the game is pretty playable on, with today’s standards, low-end Pocket PC’s and has no problems on VGA devices either.”…
