PocketSand performance problem fixed!

If you tried pocketSand on a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC chances are you ran into a problem with the software slowing to a crawl within a few seconds. According to the developer, this is due to the way Microsoft implemented the rand() function in Windows Mobile 5.0, and he’s released an update which corrects the problem….

Solitaire City adds square screen support

Just a quick heads-up to point out an update to Solitaire City, adding support for the square screens becoming progressively more common. “Unlike most solitaire games, Solitaire City is played against the clock for points. The faster a game is completed, the higher the score. Players find themselves hoping their long haul flights never end as they play game after game in an attempt to battle their way to the top of one of many hi-score tables and see their name in lights.”…

The EDGE SDK has been updated to version 2.90, improving bluetooth and adding support for blitlets and JPEG. “Other improvements of Edge SDK 2.90 include color depth emulation, improved palette mode support, a function to retrieve device-dependent hardware key names and an improved version of the Edge IDE.” Further details here….

Another week rolls around with a Pocket Programming Language update, taking the Pocket PC development platform to version 1.05, fixing “mostly compiler and interpreter bugs. There are good improvements in the Object-Oriented syntax also. We now offer a CAB version to install PPL on Smartphones (ARM processors with WM2003/WM2005).”…

Blackjack Gold update

Not-Big-Deal has updated Blackjack Gold to version 2.52. No word on what might have changed in this version, but the game features “all features of the original BlackJack game, allows customizing of casino or choosing one of predefined casinos [along with] colorful attractive graphics and autosaving.” The update is no doubt free for registered users, while Blackjack Gold is available to buy for $4.95….

Genesis Plus - new version

As spotted on the Aximsite forums, the Genesis Plus Megadrive emulator has been updated to add an auto frameskip option, and to use the “latest DrZ80 core from Reesy DrMD”. I have no idea what difference the new core will make to the emulator since I’ve never encountered speed problems when using it anyway, but if you like to have your software up-to-date then feel free to grab the update….

Smartphone: Kakuro and Sudoku updated

The Smartphone versions Mastersoft Kakuro and Sudoku have been updated to versions 1.07 and 1.14 respectively. The update includes “a number of fixes”, but please note that existing scores and statistics will be lost when the updates are installed. Clickgamer have updated Pocket Commodore 64 to version 2.5, adding VGA and Windows Mobile 5 support to the emulator. I haven’t tried a game on it yet, but the new version loads fine and PRINT “HELLO” worked……
