Just a quick note for people who might not be aware of the merger of Aximsite with Mobilitysite, and the ensuing celebration contests. Chris Leckness has some fantastic prizes up for grabs (I’ve just visited and spotted an iPhone and X-Box 360), so if you’ve got some free time I recommend you give it a shot. Obviously, if you win I shall be taking a 10% finder’s fee… :-)…

“Sophia Mobile presented the NANI at the Wireless Japan Show 2007, this new product is a PDA phone running Windows Mobile 6.0 on a 4.3 inches screen and WVGA resolution, features include B/G WiFi, USB, OTG, telephone thanks to the WSIM (AirH) good for internet browsing. As if it wasn’t enough, the NANI also is a real PMP with support of Mpeg1/2/4, WMV9, DivX, Xvid videos and WAV, WMA, MP3 and OGG audio files. (The GPS is optional).”

It’s actually WinCE 6.0, but boy is this tempting! I have my doubts whether you can use this as a phone outside of Japan, or how fast the data connection is, but the hardware appears skewed towards PMP use more than anything. No news on pricing or whether any carriers are going to pick this up, or even if this will ever get into production - enjoy the pics anyway!

“Increasingly, I’m doing more of my (non-work) web browsing on my PDA. And as a big fan of using del.icio.us to store and share interesting sites that I come across, I’ve missed the tools you can get for desktop browsers (like Internet Explorer or Firefox) that let you throw your current page at your del.icio.us list. To cut a long story short, I’ve put something together and it seems to work. If you have a Windows Mobile PDA and fancy giving it a try, feel free to give it a go.”

For those who use del.icio.us, Dale Lane has done a lot of work to create a free plugin for Windows Mobile. Even if del.icio.us is not your thing, take a read of the work it took to create the feature. He also hopes to add support for other services like digg in the future, so be sure to give him feedback.
A few tips to help you more efficiently use Windows Mobile’s native Web browser; including shortcuts to open Pocket IE in full screen mode, manage your Favorites list, and navigate from page to page.
“Google Inc. is developing a new search service for cellphones that will help consumers find and buy ringtones, games and other mobile content as the Internet company pushes more deeply into wireless, people familiar with the matter say. Google already offers cellphone users a version of its popular engine for searching the Web. Now the company wants to go beyond just looking up Web pages, effectively becoming a gateway for finding and paying for mobile media content.”
Well, I guess it is a good thing to make content for cell phones easier to find, but not user it needs to be easier for people to find annooying ring tones so they can leave their phones on their desk at the highest volume with the ringer to voice mail timeout set at a minute or so.
Just in case you didn’t know, Google has a search service via SMS. Just send the word “help” to 46645 (Googl) for instructions on its use. I’ve been using that for several years, especially to get competitive pricing while standing in a Best Buy or similar store.
