As the name suggests, this might not be marketed to the consumer space though the projected price point of $640 to $750 (according to CTIA sources) would probably make it a viable option. Specs include XScale PXA270 416MHz processor, 2.8″ QVGA screen, GPS, Edge GPRS, GSM, 802.11b/g, BT 1.2, SDIO slot, 2MP camera w/ macro focus. Not a game per se, but interesting enough to merit a mention. Megabrain promises to “boost the capabilities of your brain. You will learn how to remember shopping lists without any effort for as long as you like and recall the items in their proper order or any other order you like. You will learn how to remember long numbers very easily, which is very useful to remember credit card numbers, PIN codes or security codes. This will make your day by day life much easier and can also help you to impress your boss if you know all the numbers from the current business report by heart.”…

“SRS Labs was in attendance at CTIA 2007, showing their audio technology and solutions. The name SRS Labs might not be familiar to many people, but if you’ve used Windows Media Player 10 or 11, and have ever gone into the enhancements settings to turn on SRS WOW Effects, you’ve used an SRS Labs product. SRS Mobile HD ships on a couple of Windows Mobile devices on the market, most notably the Motorola Q. I listened to a demo of a song using their big DJ-style headphones, and was able to toggle SRS Mobile HD off and on to hear what kind of a difference it made on the audio coming from the Motorola Q. Could I tell the difference? Absolutely. Were the changes for the better? That’s a bit harder to figure out - the sound was certainly “bigger” (what’s called having a “wider sound stage”). It sounded fuller - on the other hand, when listening to a different song, it seemed to over-drive the sound and cause distortion.”

Over at the CTIA 2007 Blog, Jason talks about SRS Mobile HD and SRS Headphone 360. Do you have a device that supports either of the two? Admittedly, there aren’t many, but if you do have one, let us know what you think of the enhancements in audio quality.

The other big use for this prototype is that we can now record and track the products that we own.”

Kris Kumar of Smartphone Thoughts previews this very intriguing new solution from Microsoft Research. Kris mentions some very interesting use cases which I think could be of benefit to most any of us. Check out his article as there’s a plethora of photos, screenshots, and observations to share.

I used Phone Dashboard back in the days I worried about going over my monthly minute bucket. Of course, after my long-distance relationship turned short-distance (i.e. she moved nearer to me), phone time wasn’t at such a premium and I stopped using the app. However, for those of you who brush against your bill on occassion and wish to avoid unsightly overage charges, take a look at Phone Dashboard!

“The P4000 is essentially a CDMA version of the 8525 currently offered by Cingular. Since it’s a newer device, though, it improves a little on the GSM version with a considerably thinner profile and an assisted slide. The P4000 for Telus has an unfortunate d-pad that feels cheap and is tricky to use, but HTC often changes such things on versions for different carriers, so we hope the US version(s) will improve in that area.”

As to who’ll be carrying this cousin of the 8525, there isn’t any confirmation yet, but Engadget whispers that it’ll likely be Sprint. Doesn’t look half bad, does it. That said, Phone Scoop reports it’ll initially come with WM5; let’s hope that carriers get some sense and actually ship it with WM6.

“Vringo is one of those services that left me scratching my head a little, wondering if there was really a market for this, but then again I can’t grasp the huge market for cheesy-sounding ringtones either. Vringo is a video ringtone service that allows you to see and share your video ringtones with others. They have a Windows Mobile client (shown above) and a rich Web-based system for selecting and managing your video ringtones.”

Like some custom ring tone features, this one sends a video ringtone to the one receiving the call. I can see how this could be very embarrassing pending on your taste or that of your “friends”, especially if they let you upload the video. Anyone want YouTube ringtones? For the record, Vringo sounds too much like Viggo, as in Viggo Mortensen from Lord of the “Rings”.

Darn! Just when an app gets really interesting, they turn it into WM5+ only! I got disappointed with Deepfish yesterday, now Minimo has just given me another low blow. If you ain’t a dinosaur like me, go ahead and check out the 0.2 version - the biggest weakness of most WM browsers (pace Steve Jobs) is the lack of full support for the latest web technologies (ok, ok, layout matters too). It sounds like the mobile browser of our dreams is almost here!

“AMD’s Imageon chip is a graphics processor (GPU) designed for mobile devices. While the high-end version is not shipping in any Windows Mobile devices at this point, the demonstration I saw was quite impressive….I was unable to find the model number of the GPU running the demo below, but I suspect it was the Imageon 2298, announced last month. The hope here, of course, is that technology like this will make it into Windows Mobile smartphones so we can have gaming experiences this fluid and impressive - check out the video for more.”

The 503G packs some mostly impressive innards from the 520MHz processor and 256MB ROM to the quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi… and, ahem, Bluetooth 1.2. All that with Windows Mobile 6 Professional to go. Want one? Expansys is reporting a release date of June 20.

As spotted on Clickgamer is the new Dr. Pocket, a Pocket PC version of Dr. Mario. “The goal in Dr. Pocket is to combat the viruses in the pill bottle by strategically placing the falling pills to create rows and columns of the same color. When you get four of the same color in a row, everything in the row explodes. Any unsupported pieces will collapse onto the viruses below (which can cause even more explosions, resulting in a much higher score). Extra points are awarded for destroying more than one virus at a time.”…

As announced on Clickgamer is Next, described as a “sophisticated puzzle game that combines a simple interface with 64 challenging levels of puzzles.”…

Just a quick update to point out that Call of Duty 2 is now available at Clickgamer, complete with a trial version.
