Netflix Goes Mobile
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006Netflix, the online DVD rental site, has finally made their site user friendly for those of us that want to occasionally add a movie to our queue when not at our full sized PCs.

You can view the top 10 items on your queue, see what you have out or what is on the way, search for movies, read brief a brief synopsis on a movie, then add - or save in the case of unreleased DVDs - a DVD to your queue. Pretty sweet!

Monday, August 28th, 2006
DivX has just opened the doors to its DivX Mobile testing program. While TCPMP handles DivX files pretty well, you may prefer to try a solution direct from the company. To join the program, you need either a Pocket PC or Smartphone, a data plan, a memory card, and must live in the United States or Canada. More information over at the DivX Labs.

Monday, August 28th, 2006Asspotted on Handango is Minefield, a Minesweeper clone from Kragesoft. Unfortunately, Handango has gone all AJAX on the product information, and the required bit won’t load. Monday, August 28th, 2006I’ve been back in Chicago for about 2 weeks now, getting to know a new company, a new department of really cool employees, a new product, new System, etc. The one thing that (thankfully) hasn’t been new are my trusty ol’ Pocket PC’s.
My 6515 has been doing pretty well under the pressure. I’ve been trying to find the best balance of running applications (Snoopsoft… Read More

Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine: Browse WikiPedia via Your Pocket PC
Monday, August 28th, 2006“WikiPedia has become by far the best source of really up-to-date information ? in many respects, even better than the online Oxford English Dictionary (see ?The Definitive Roundup of All Pocket PC Dictionaries Part II ? non-WordNet-based English Dictionaries? for more info if interested on the well-known, alternate sources of available information.) In this roundup, I elaborate on how you can access information in WikiPedia on your Pocket PC other than directly browsing its pages in your Pocket PC Web browser.”
Unless you’ve been hibernating under a rock for the last few years, most of you should be very familiar with the power and convenience of WikiPedia. For me, it’s pushed standard dictionaries into obsolescence. Well, Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine have published an article on the various offline methods of viewing WikiPedia content on your Pocket PC. Check it out and let us know your thoughts!

Monday, August 28th, 2006“Unlike desktop and notebook computers, data display and the mobile device’s tiny screen that contains them have proved extremely difficult to view and navigate for many of us. If there are times you’d like to be able to zoom in on your Pocket PC’s screen, you should give this software a shot. It is $18 from their site and runs on Windows Mobile 2003/SE and WM5.
